Mr. Marvin LAI is the Chairman of Trans-Telecom Holdings Ltd. and a partner of iTM Ventures Inc.

Mr. LAI has over twenty years of experience in a wide variety of business disciplines which includes corporate finance and governance, direct investment (venture capital), divestiture, risk and return evaluation, valuing and acquiring businesses, managing value creation, general management, international operations, sales and marketing (FMCG), channel distribution, telecommunications, semiconductor, and entrepreneurial experience in the USA, Europe, Middle East and Asia-Pacific regions. Prior to joining Trans-Telecom Holdings Ltd., Mr. LAI began his career with IBM and AT&T Bell Laboratories in the USA.

Mr. LAI is a doctoral researcher at MGSM in Macquarie University (Sydney , Australia), where he is investigating the factors that demonstrate the success of venture capital-backed businesses in China. Mr. LAI is a reader of EMBA at INSEAD and Tsinghua University (Fontainebleau, France & Beijing, China). Mr. LAI holds a M.Sc. degree in Financial Management from University of London, CeFiMS (London, UK), a M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University (Maryland, USA) and a B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University (New York, USA).

An enthusiast in both professional and community affairs, Mr. LAI is a Fellow Hong Kong Institute of Directors (FHKIoD), Chairman Emeritus of the SME committee of Hong Kong Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (HKVCPEA), President Emeritus of Columbia University Hong Kong Alumni Association (2006-2008), Professional Manager (PMgr) designation by Hong Kong Management Association (HKMA), Accredited Business Intermediary (ABI), a Board member of Monte Jade Science and Technology Association of Hong Kong (a key global investment organization for renowned investors, CEOs, and financiers), and President Emeritus of Rotary Club of Kingspark Hong Kong (2007-2008).
